Tanker located missing fisherman

In the afternoon of Nov 26, 2023, the Port Authorities of Kavala and Thassos were informed abo a missing 82-year-old local fisherman, who had gone fishing with his boat in the area of Perijalos Kavala and had been missing ever since. Two Coast Guard patrol boats rushed to the scene, along with other vessels, and the fisherman was located in good health by the 'Gerani', which had participated in the SAR operation. The offshore ship 'Energean Wave' picked up the castaway and transported him to the port of Kavala, from where he was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Kavalas for precautionary reasons, and also towed his boat to shore.

Tanker disabled due to mechanical failure

The Port Authorities of Rafina, Lavrio, Karystos and Andros were informed in the morning of Nov 3, 2021, by the JRCC that the 'Geradni', en route from Thessaloniki, was disbled due to a mechanical failure with 14 crew members on board in the sea area of ​​Steno Kafireas. The damage was repaired by the crew, and the tanker sailed safely to the anchorage of Agios Theodoros. The Port Authority of Corinth banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness and class maintenance by the attending classification society. The ship remaind stationary in pos. 37° 54.50 N 023° 04.25' E as of Nov 5.
