The "Koeta" was the main suspect in a hit and run accident off the southern coast of South Korea on Jan 11, 2019, at 5 a.m. which claimed three lives and left two people missing, while nine more were rescued after the fishing boat "Mujeok" (Invincible Shark), 9,77 ts, collided with another vessel 40 miles south of Yokji Island, Tongyeong, in the East China Sea, and capsized. The 59 year old master and another man were recovered dead, a third was unconscious and taken to hospital in Yeosu in critical state and later pronounced dead. The LPG tanker which was en route from Ulsan to China was directed to Tongyeong for investigations. The Filipino officer who was at the helm was to be interrogated, together with the master. the wreck of the "Mujeok", floating bottom up in the sea, was to be towed to port. The fishign vessel had left Gukdong Fishing Port in Yeosu at 1:20 p.m. on Jan 10 for hairtail fishing. The captain, surnamed Choi, one crew member and 12 anglers were onboard. They fished in the South Jeolla provincial sea and went into the South Gyeongsang area to make a detour due to wind when the tanker smashed into the boat causing it to capsize.
