Medevac off Southwest Pass

The US Coast Guard medevaced a man from the "Garden State" approximately 118 nautical miles southwest of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, on March 30, 2018. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request from the tanker to medevac a crew member who was suffering vision loss in one eye. They directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew fromthe Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircrew from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama. The helicopter crew hoisted the patient and transferred him to University Hospital. The patient was reported to be in good condition.

General Dynamics NASSCO Marks Seventh Ship Delivery in Just Over a Year

On Monday, July 25, General Dynamics NASSCO marked its seventh ship delivery in the span of just over a year. The Garden State, an ECO Class tanker built for longtime customer American Petroleum Tankers, was delivered during a special signing ceremony and is one of three classes of ships delivered by the San Diego-based shipyard since June of last year.
