Cargo ship slammed into fish cages
En route from Istanbul to Mersin, the 'Galisa' damaged the fish farm in front of Didim Doğanbey in the Didim district of Aydın, on Dec 21, 2022. At least two pools were wrecked, and the fish perished. The ship was stuck in pos. 37° 35' 07.4" N, 027° 05' 17.6" E with its propeller entangled in cage pieces. The "Galisa" struck the docked "Volgo Balt 236" on Dec 30, 2016, in the port of Yeisk while mooring alongside. She suffered bow dent above the waterline with 150 millimeter deflection. The "Volgo Balt 236" was breached amidships at port side above the water line in an area of 150x25 centimeters. She also suffered a bent bulwark and a broken fender bar. The "Galisa" was loaded with 2817 tons of linseed, the "Volgo Balt 236" was loaded with 2901 tons of offal.

Georgian frontier guards detained the "Galisa" at Batumi port on Mar 9, 2011. According to the department of border protection, the vessel Russian captain is accused of sea polluting. An administrative proceeding has been launched against him. The Batumi city court fined the ship captal for GEL 65.000 while GEL 55,000 was imposed for damage to environment. He will be permitted to sail after paying the fines. The ship crew consists of 12 people, including 1 Georgian citizen, 5 citizens of Ukraine, 3 Turkish citizens and 3 Azerbaijani citizens.
