Medevac off Guernsey
On Jan 05, 2021 at 5:20 p.m., the CROSS Jobourg was notified by the 'Souviens-Toi' that one of its crew members had injured his hand. The vessel was 20 nautical miles north of Guernsey, at the entrance to the upstream channel of the Casquets Traffic Separation System (DST). The CROSS then initiated a conference call with the Toulouse Maritime Medical Consultation Center and the 'Souviens-Toi', and a medical evacuation of the fisherman is recommended. The Maritime Medical Coordination SAMU in Le Havre directed the medical evacuation to the Louis Pasteur hospital in Cherbourg. The CROSS deployed a Caiman helicopter of the French Navy base in Maupertus to carry out the evacuation. At 6:50 p.m., the injured man was hoisted aboard the helicopter and then dropped off at the Quai des Flamands at the port of Cherbourg, where he was taken care of by the departmental fire and rescue service at 7.20 p.m. Report with photo: https://www.premar-manche.gouv.fr/communiques-presse/evacuation-sanitaire-d-un-marin-pecheur-au-nord-de-guernesey
