Medevac off Port-en-Bessin

Tue Dec 06 10:35:20 CET 2022 Timsen

On Dec 5, 2022, a fisherman aboard the 'Saint Jacques' was injued off off Port-en-Bessin. The CROSS Jobourg was alerted and a conference call established between the vessel, the Maritime Medical Consultation Center in Toulouse and the Maritime Medical Coordination Service in Le Havre. The decision to carry out a real medical consultation was made and a team of rescuers dispatchd to the ship. Members of the medical team from the Army Health Service in Querqueville were dropped off from a Caïman helicopter. The victim was then hoisted and transported to the Rouen University Hospital, to be taken care of by the medical services.

Fisherman recalls migrant tragedy off Caiais

Fri Nov 26 13:23:59 CET 2021 Timsen

Seeing so many dead like that next to the ship was "really a horror film", a shock such as he had never experienced in 21 years at sea: Karl Maquinghen, the master of the 'Saint Jacques II' who gave the alert on Nov 24, 2021, on the worst migratory drama to have occurred in the English Channel, remains haunted by the images of the floating bodies of the castaways. Those who didn't have a life jacket, they couldn't see, except for one dressed in black, with a plaid shirt. This one he saw because he passed two meters from the ship, not even a meter. "This is the first time this has happened to me, it feels weird," said the experienced fisherman. He disembarked from the trawler on at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer in the night of Nov 25. The tragedy claimed the lives of 27 people, 17 men, seven women and three young children, according to the Lille prosecutor. Water ingress off Boulogne

Wed Feb 07 12:05:03 CET 2018 Timsen

On Feb 6, 2018, at 7 a.m. the French fregate "Cormoran" was tasked by the Maritime Operations Center (COM), in liaison with the CROSS Gris-Nez, to establish contact with the "Saint Jacques II" which had suffered water ingress. The fishing vessel remained maneuverable, and the water intrusion could be controlled. Another fishing vessel, the "Glorieuse Vierge Marie", escorted the "Saint Jacques II". The "Cormoran" implemented their assessment team and dewatering equipment. The fregaate accompanied the convoy to the port of Boulogne. The "Cormoran" had started its mission on Jan 29, from its base in Cherbourg to conduct a maritime patrol mission until Feb 9.
