Gillnetter sank sailing vessel
On July 28, 2017, at 02.33 pm, the CROSS Etel was informed that a collision had occurred between the "Manbrisa - LS 918519", 65 gt, and the 11-m- s/y "Grenifaal IV" about nine kilometers north-west of the island of Noirmoutier. The gillnetter recovered his fishing gear to assist the sailboat. At 2:39 p.m., the CROSS was informed that the sailboat was sinking. At 2:46 p.m., the two crew members of the sailboat were recovered safe and sound by the fisherman. The sailboat sank in a water depth of 18 meters. The fishing vessel then proceeded to the port of Pornichet to drop off the two castaways. The CROSS Etel deployed a lifeboat of the SNSM station of Pornichet to take them on board, arriving in port around 5 p.m.
