Disabled trawler towed to Lochinver

Tue Jan 05 09:45:48 CET 2016 Timsen

The "Julien Coleou" suffered engine failure on Jan 3m, 201 about 20 miles west of Barra in the North Atlantic in a force eight gale. The trawler with eight crew members on board was being buffeted by 45 mph winds and a rolling swell when an engine failure left her without power around 20 miles west of Barra. A sister vessel from the same fleet, the "Jean-Claude Coulon II", successfully took her under tow. With weather deteriorating and strong easterly winds hampering progress, the ships steamed at reduced speed towards Lochinver on the mainland. The tow arrived in the port in the morning of Jan 4, more than 24 hours after the emergency began. As they approached harbour, Lochinver lifeboat launched to escort the trawlers into the port.

Trawler disabled off Lorient

Wed Aug 13 10:49:05 CEST 2014 Timsen

On Aug 11, 2014, at 9 a.m. the "Julien Coléou" with a crew of seven on board was taken in tow by the tug "Scorff" in the Audierne Bay off Finistère following an engine problem which reduced the speed to 1,5 knots, insufficient to get back to port. At 7 p.m. the trawler arrived at Lorient. An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the engine trouble.
