Medevac ooff Ouessant
On Mar 3, 2015, at 7:27 p.m. the CROSS Corsen was alerted because a fisherman of 43 years on board the "Itasca" was suffering from chest pain. After a conference call between the maritime Medical Consultation Center (MMCC) in Toulouse, the Maritime Medical Coordination in Finistère andthe CROSS, a medical evacuation was decided. The trawler was 110 miles west of the island of Ouessant. The CROSS Corsen alerted a Cayman helicopter of the naval air base Lanvéoc- Poulmic which took off at 8 p.m. with a medical team on board. At 9 p.m. the team was hoisted on the fishing vessel and the patient was winched onto the helicopter at 10 p.m. and taken to the hospital Cavale Blanche in Brest where he was delivered at 11:30 p.m.
