Search for missing crew member suspended
On July 22, 2015, at 4:50 a.m. the CROSS Corsen was alerted after a 40 year old Spanish crew member of the "Faro Picamillo" was missing. The CROSS Corsen immediately relayed the message to the MRCC Falmouth to coordinate search operations in the area 265 nautical miles off the Pointe de Penmarc'h. At 7 a.m. a Falcon 50 took off from the Naval Air Station Lann Bihoue and was on scene at 9:20 a.m. At 12.25 pm. the MRCC Falmouth asked the ro-ro ship "Integrity" and the chemical tanker "San Fernando" to join the search. At 1.35 p.m. the Falcon 50 left the area and was replaced by the maritime patrol aircraft Atlantique 2 which took off at 12:58 p.m. from the Naval Air Station Lann Bihoue. At 7:55 p.m., the Atlantic 2 left the search area. After more than 15 hours of search and lacking new evidence, the MRCC Falmouth stopped the SAR operation.
