Medevac off Lorient
On June 25, 2016 at 4:26 p.m., the CROSS Etel was contacted by the "Corto Maltese II" after a crew member, aged 50 years, miles SW of Lorient. Following a conference call with the Maritime Medical Consultation Centre (MMCC) in Toulouse, the Maritime Medical Coordination SAMU in Finistère and the ship, the decision was made to evacuate the sailor by helicopter to the center hospital Quimper. The CROSS dispatched a Cayman helicopter of the naval air base Lanvéoc Poulmic (Navy) with a medical team on board which toook off at 5:26 p.m. and reached the ship at 6 p.m. The sailor was hoisted aboard the Cayman at At 6:54 p.m. and delivered to the hospital at 7:20 p.m.
