First ship in Ukrainian port since the end of the Russian blockade
The 'Fulmar S' was the first cargo ship that has docked in a Ukrainian port since the end of the Russian naval blockade. The ship arrived at the port of Chornomorsk on Aug 7 at 1.15 p.m. and is ready for loading, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure. The resumption of ship traffic and the associated grain shipments from the Ukraine are important for stabilizing food prices worldwide. So far, eight ships carrying grain have left Ukrainian ports since the start of August. They were among dozens of freighters that had been stranded there since Russia started the war against the Ukraine on Feb 24, because of the Russian naval blockade and the Ukrainian military's mining of its own ports. With the arrival of the 'Fulmar S', the grain corridor now has an entrance and exit, which was regarded as an important signal for the markets.
Insepctors boarded ship ahead of call at Chornomorsk
A team of inspectors began checking the unloaded 'Fulmar S' on Aug 5, 2022, before it headed off to collect grain from the port of Chornomorsk under a deal to restart Ukrainian grain exports- The inspection team boarded a boat to head out to the ship which was at anchor in the Black Sea just to the north of the Bosphorus Strait. Vessels to load Ukrainian grain are being inspected by Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and U.N. personnel who are working at a Joint Coordination Centre in Istanbul.
