Tanker stuck under bridge
On Feb 11, 2014, at 7.40 a.m. the "Fueltrans 7" allided with the southern bridge spanning the East Lock in Terneuzen. The tanker remained stuck under the bridge. The accident seemed to have been caused by a technical fault so that the ship could not be slowed down. The bridge was closed for road traffic until further notice. The vessel was pulled out by two tugs of Multraship hours later and docked. It suffered signifant foreship damage. The Bridge and also the lock will have to remain closed for two weeks for both vehicle and ship traffic. The construction was bent 15 centimeters upwards, the concrete was damaged and some more damage caused.
