Trawler which appeared in the BBC’s celebrated Trawlermen series, radioed for help
An RNLI crew went to the aid of the "Fruitful Bough" on Aug 12, 2014 after it lost its steering near Boddam, south of Peterhead. The RNLI Peterhead Tamar Lifeboat "The Misses Robertson of Kintail" at 3.30 p.m. with its volunteer crew headed to the "Fruitful Bough" which was adrift three miles SSW of Peterhead. The lifeboat towed the fishing vessel to Peterhead harbour. Without any means of steering the vessel it proved to be a very challenging tow. After the lifeboat and the casualty reached Peterhead harbour the tow was taken over, and the fishing boat was berthed by a harbour tug. The lifeboat was then stood down and returned to its berth at 6.30 p.m. Conditions during the service was wind SW force 3-4 and a swell of one meter.
