Port of Corpus Christi receives Very Large Crude Carrier Anne
The Anne, the first Very Large Crude Carrier to dock at a Gulf Coast port, loaded Friday at the Occidental Petroleum terminal in Ingleside, near Corpus Christi. Houston-based Occidental is testing the 1,000-foot-long vessel, one of the largest on the seas. The Corpus ship channel is 46 feet deep, which isn't enough to allow the ship to leave fully loaded. Occidental instead loaded it at port and finished filling the ship in deeper water. Very Large Crude Carriers can hold more than 2 million barrels of oil. The ship was delayed after storms battered the Gulf this week. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/article/Giant-crude-ship-comes-calling-on-Gulf-Coast-11177587.php Report on TV: http://www.kiiitv.com/news/local/port-of-corpus-christi-receives-very-large-crude-carrier-anne/443367223
