FRIGG SYDFYEN 8222824

Fri Nov 12 10:41:56 CET 2010 Timsen

The "Frigg Sydfyen" on Nov 11, 2010, at 6.30 p.m. ran aground between Tårs, West-Lolland, and Spodsbjerg on Langeland with 25 passengers 400 metres off the ferry terminal at Tårs. The captain had not managed to get enough speed. The ship was unable to enter the port of Spodsbjerg which was blocked by another ferry, but had to return towards Tårs. But the wind which blowed with up to 12 metres per second and gusts of 20 m/sec pushed the vessel out of the shipping lane. The passengers were safe and served with free sandwiches and coffee. A tug was called to refloat the vessel. No hull damage and oul spill reported. The ship could be towed to port around 2 a.m. on Nov 12, and six hours late the passengers could disembark.
