Collision in Dardanelles
The bulkcarrier "ESL Dolphin" and "Free State " were in collision while crossing the Dardanelles strait collided on Aug 25, 2019, at 2,10 a.m. between Gallipoli and Bosphorus exit. The ships suffered slight damage. The tugs "Kurtarma 6" and "Kurtarma 10" as well as the lifeboat "Kiyem 9" were deployed to assist. The "Free State" was enroute from King Abdullah Port in Saudi Arabia to Burgas, the "ESL Dolphin" ballasting from Eren to Gibraltar. The ships moored at Sevketiye anchorage for investigations after which the "ESL Dolphin" resumed the voyage to Gibraltar on Aug 26 with an ETA as of Sep 3. The "Free State" also resumed its voyage from King Abdullah Port and dropped anchor off Burgas on Aug 28 at 1 a.m. On Aug 29 it remained moored off the port in pos. 42° 29.63' N 027° 32.19' E and stayed in port from Sep 3 to 9 before heading to Rotterdam.
