Repairs progressing well
Repairs to the "Cidade de Paraty", which was towed into False Bay, were progressing well by June 17. The floating production, storage and offloading vessel had developed generator trouble about 45 miles off False Bay on June 7, but could not be towed in until June 10 because of bad weather. The owners are, according to SAMSA, “throwing a lot of time and money” at the vessel.
Disabled FPSO towed into False Bay
The "Cidade de Paraty" has been towed into False Bay for repairs after developing trouble with its generators about 45 miles off the shores of False Bay on June 7, 2012. A tug from Smit salvors was dispatched to the vessel, but because of the bad weather it didn’t tow the vessel into False Bay until June 10. The "Cidade de Paraty" is now at anchor in the bay. The SA Maritime Safety Authority confirmed that it had given permission for it to anchor in False Bay while undergoing repairs. The FPSO had problems with the generator. It only has one emergency generator working. It was unclear how long the repairs to the Cidade de Paraty would take.
