Two ships collided at Chittagong Port’s outer anchorage Alpha
Two ships collided at Chittagong Port’s outer anchorage on Monday, Sept. 9 causing acute damage to one. The engine room of one of the ship was rendered ineffective after it started to take in water following the collision. The accident took place at Alpha Anchorage around midnight, Capt Nazmul Alam Deputy Conservator at Chittagong Port told bdnews24.com. Bangladesh flag carrier MV Abdullah collided with Panama flag carrier Fortune Cloud which ruptured the bottom of the Fortune. “Fortune Cloud’s bottom is stuck to the bed and Abdullah is also damaged. The crew however are safe and the accident is not disrupting navigation on the port’s channel.” Tug boat and a Navy ship are involved in rescuing the ships, said Capt Nazmul. He said a committee will be formed to probe the accident.
