Medevac off Port Aransas
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 41-year-old crew ,member of the 'Fortunato' foff Port Aransas, Texas, on Feb 23, 2021. Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi command center watchstanders received a medevac request at 9:40 a.m. via cell phone from the vessel, stating a crew member was suffering from facial swelling. A Station Port Aransas 45-foot Response Boat–Medium boat crew launched to conduct the medevac. The RB–M boat crew arrived on scene with the tanker vessel, embarked the crewmember and transported him to Station Port Aransas where emergency medical services personnel were waiting.
Tanker boarded by perpetrators
Two perpetrators armed with a machete were sighted on the forecastle of the 'Fortunato' which was moored at the Cartagena anchorage in position 10 19 01.2N, long 75 31 24.6W, on Jan 19, 2020, at5 a.m. The alarm was and the crew mustered. Seeing the alerted crew, the perpetrators fled the vessel and escaped. The incident was reported to the Coast Guard, which sent personnel to board the vessel for inspection. Nothing was reported stolen.
