Ferry ran aground
The "Foldøy" ran aground on the Bokna Fjord at Rogaland in the Finnøy municipality on April 15, 2019, at 9.30 p.m. The police was in contact with the crew on board, but there was no suspicion of drunken sailing. The ferry berthed at the quay in Judaberg after the incident. Sailings on the route Fogn-Judaberg-Nedstrand-Jelsa were suspended. The Finnøy County Police Office launched an investigation.
Ferry helmsman witnessed boat fire
In the morning of Dec 11, 2018, the helmsman Trond A. Sandanger on the "Foldøy" observed an explosive fire with a lot of black smoke emerging from a cabin cruiser off Finnøy. He alerted the fire department in Stavanger and reported about the fire. The boat was at Alnaskjær when it started to burn. The police, divers, a fire boat, an ambulance boat and the NSSR arrived quickly at the scene. Also the passenger boat "Rygerprins" diverted from its route to participate in the search for possible victims. The SAR operation was stood down after three men aged 18 - 21 years were taken in custody of the police and charged with boat robbery. The boat has been stolen from a dock in Hommersåk according to investigations of the South West Police District. Calls cancelled due to technical trouble
On April 13, 2018, at 6.10 a.m. the Nedstrand-ferry "Foldøy" had to cancel calls at Nedstrand, Jelsa, Hebnes and Foldøy due to technical problems. The route 2 was served as scheduled with a departure at 9:10 a.m. from Helgøy. At 9 a.m. the problems were resolved and the ferry sailing again according to schedule.
