Fishing vessel on fire in Giske

On June 28, 2015, the "P.O. Senior" caught fire in the Gjerde Port at Giske. The crew of three could save themselves in time. An ambulance was on site, but there were no reports of serious injuries, but it was possible the three may have suffered from smoke inhalation. The fire brigade was called and tried to get the fire which started in the engine room under control. Within ten minutes large flames erupted on the deck. At 10.30 p.m. the fire was under control but it was estimated that it could continue to burn for some time. The lifeboat "Det Norske Veritas 2" was supporting the efforts of the fire rescue.
