Crew member injured in fall on board
The Port Authority of Igoumenitsa was informed in the evening of June 15, 2022, about the injury of a crew member in the night, during the mooring process of the 'Florencia' in the port of Igoumenitsa. The man lost his balance on the ramp of the ship and fell. As a result he was injured at the back of the head and transported by ambulance to the emergency department of Igoumenitsa in order to receive first aid and then returned to his normal duties. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa.
Engine failure off Ingoumenitsa
In the morning of Dec 8, 2019, the 'Florencia' suffered a damage to the starboard side main engine while operating a scheduled itinerary from Brindisi to Igoumenitsa and Patras. The ferry with 241 passengers, 53 crew members, 45 trucks and 121 vehicles salied at a reduced speed but unassisted to the port of Igoumenitsa, where it was safely berthed at 6.40 a.m. The Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa banned the ferry from sailing. The 'Florencia' left the port of Igoumenitsa again at 11.45 p.m. after the damage has been repared and a certificate of seaworthiness was presented by the monitoring classification society. The ferry headed to Brindisi with an ETA as of Dec 9, 9.50 a.m.
Engine damage off Patras
On July 14, 2019, the Port Authority of Patras was informed by the captain of the "Florencia", which was operating a scheduled service from the port of Igoumenitsa to the port of Patras with 155 passengers and 99 vehicles on board, about a mechanical damage to one of its two main engines without requesting assistance. At a reduced speed the ferry proceeded to the port of Patras assisted by the "Proteas" and safely berthed at 7 p.m. All passengers were dropped off. The port authority carried out a preliminary investigation and detained the ship until damage has been repaired and a class maintenance certificate has been presented by the classification society. The ferry left the port again on July 15 at 1 a.m.
