Fire on the Rhine
On Sep 12, 2019, at 3 p.n. the "Stolt Florence", 3644 ts (EU-No.: 02333731), with a crew of six on board, caught fire on the Rhine at river km 687,3 off the Deutz port while ballasting towards the Netherlands. The master remarked smoke billowing from the engine room and raised alert. He turned the ship around and berthed at the right river shore in Colonia. The fire brigade and the police attended. No ne was injured, and the fire could be put out with assistance of a fire boat. Ship traffic was not affected. A technical malfunction was thought to have caused the fire. Collision on the Rhine
On March 7, 2018, at 6.50 a.m. the "Stolt Florence", 3644 ts (EU-No.: 02333731; MMSI-No.: 244730485; CS: PB9581 ), sailing river upstream after having departed from Dormagen on March 6 at 10.45 p.m., was in collision with the barge "Tyro", 1106 ts (EU-No.: 02008214; MMSI-No.: 244630224; CS: PI6255), on the Rhine at the height of Lobith near Tolkamer which was coming from the oppisite direction. While there were no injuries, the damage to the ships was considerable. Both ships entered the port of Tolkamer after the collision for investigations. The "Tyro" which had left the port of Tolkamer at 6.30 a.m. was hit at port side and suffered damage to the wheelhouse as well as the cargo hatch and the hull where bollards were broken out.
