Historic locomotive transported from Milwaukee to Antwerp
A historic diesel engine locomotive was discharged from the "Floragracht" on Nov 7, 2017, by Euroports Belgium in Antwerp. The historic NS 2000 diesel locomotive was taken on board in Milwaukee on the Lake Michigan around Oct 20 and was transported to the port of Antwerp for final destination The Netherlands. Here the locomotive will be restored by a museum. The NS-locomotive 2000 is a diesel-electric locomotive that was deployed by the Dutch Railways between 1946 and 1960. The locomotive will eventually be part of the museum that is called ‘the mobile museum’ which is a steam train between the city of Goes and Borsele, a municipality in the southwestern Netherlands on South-Beveland.
Dutch shipping company launches monthly Port of Milwaukee service
The Floragracht, a cargo ship operated by the Dutch shipping company Spliethoff Group, docked in the Port of Milwaukee this week (April 15) and will start the first monthly shipping service from the city in nearly two decades by hauling equipment from Caterpillar Inc.'s South Milwaukee factory.
