Tanker disabled off Anticosti island
The 'Sunny Horizon', while enroute from New Orleans to Quebec, was disabled 48 miles south of Anticosti island in position 48 18 00.0 N, 062 20 00.0 W on March 1, 2021, at 12.45 a.m. It had suffered a fresh-water cooling leak on a cylinder liner on the main engine. The vessel was set adrift to carry out repairs. The main engine unit 4 liner jacket was replaced with the spare one prior entering the restricted waters of the Saint Lawrence River. The job was safely completed and the vessel resumed the voyage to Quebec where it arrived on March 5.
Ffailure of hydraulic system for the windlasses and mooring winches
The 'Sunny Horizon' suffered a failure of the hydraulic system for the windlasses and mooring winches 2.85 miles south-southwest of Boucherville, Quebec, on Jan 9, 2020. The crew carried out repairs, and the system was returned to an operational state. The ship sailed from Quebec at 10.20 a.m. and berthed in Montreal on Jan 10 at 1 a.m.
