Tanker grounded on the Rhine
The "Fidelitas" ran aground on the Rhine on Aug 14, 2014, at 11.45 p.m. near Wesseling at river km 668,5. off the Shell port. The ship had on boar a cargo of 4600 tons fuel oil and was enroute downstream to Wesseling when it got entangled in the anchoring wire of a dredger before getting stuck. The police thought that a navigational mistake caused the accident. The ship will have to be pulled off by another ship, but it was yet unclear if this would happen on Aug 15 or 16. Ship traffic was not affected. German report with photo: http://www.schlossbote.de/rag-vsw-sb/docs/944647/wesseling
