German frigate waiting to transit to RDM Breakers in Kampen

In the port of Urk the "Köln" is waiting to get dismantled in Kampen. The low water level in the river IJssel stopped the Transit of the ship, meanwhile officially the "Ex Köln" since a week. The Navy German is currently replacing the ships of this class by even larger and more modern frigates. The "Köln" was the first of the series of to be decommissioned. She was auctioned in 2015. Ship breaker Hoeben/RDM Kampen was the winning bidder. The rigorous licensing procedure lasted six months. After all the paperwork was done, two tugs pulled the frigate from Wilhelmshaven to the Netherlands.
