Medevac off Kalamata
The Port Authority of Kalamata was informed on June 4, 2023, at noon that a 28-year-old crew member of the'CCL Humber', which was sailing 30 nautical miles south of the port of Kalamata, needed immediate hospital care. A patrol boatof the Greek Coast Guard sailed immediately towards the ship, embarked the injured man and transported him safely to the port of Kalamata. He was picked up by an ambulance and taken to the Messinia General Hospital for medical treatment.
Fehn-freighter assisted 11 distressed migrants
The "Olivia M." located 11 distressed migrants during an SAR operation on Jan 4, 2022, shortly after midnight and handed them over to the Spanish Coastguard. The ship was asked at 12:20 a.m. by the Spanish MRCC in Alméria to look for a boat with refugees who were suspected to be nearby. After 1,5 hours of searching in darkness, the boat was found and taken alongside. The castaways were provided with water and food. An hour later a boat of the Spanish Coast Guard reached the "Olivia M." and took over the refugees. The head of the MRCC thanked the master and the crew of the "Olivia M." after the end of the mission. Thanks to the determined and efficient action of the captain and crew, 11 lives were saved. The "Olivia M." was en route from Amsterdam to La spezia with a cargo of steel. At the time of the rescue operation, she was at the eastern exit of the Strait of Gibraltar.
Medevac off Trapani
The 'Olivia M' had to interrupt the voyagefroom Doertvol to Nyborg on June 3, 2021, South of Sicily and headed for Trapani, requesting medical assistance. The Russian Chief Engineer was suffering from heart attack symptoms. The Italian Coastguard deployed an SAR helicopter with a doctor on board. He was dropped off and attended the patient with emergency aid. He was then hoisted onto the helicopter and transferred to hospital. The freighter moored at Trapani Anchorage in the evening hours.
