Tanker anchored off Salina Cruz following accident
The "Fedor" remained anchored in pos. 16° 6.85' N 095° 9.49' W off Salina Cruz following the accident on July 2. The tanker was conducting cargo operations at the multi buoy mooring in Salina Cruz when due to sudden heavy gusts several ropes parted and the vessel allided with a mooring dolphin. The shiup suffered damage to the shell plates in the area of the aft peak tank above the waterline, but did not spill fuel. The vessel has shifted to the anchorage after the accident, and representatives of the company as well as maritime authorities were in attendance.
Tanker broke lose and destroyed pier
On July 2, 2018, the "Fedor" allided with the pier 9 of the Operations and Maritime Terminal of Pemex in Oaxaca in the municipality of Salina Cruz while loading hydrocarbon. . The tanker suffered a crack in the vessel which caused the spillage of fuel. The ship was dented and breached at its starboard side aft. It had been moored at the dock while loading fuel when a sudden change in wind speed caused the ropes to break and the ship broke lose. Hoses, as well as fuel supply pipes were destroyed. Pemex personnel implemented an emergency plan and laid out absorbent materials in the area to prevent the spreading of fuel outside the cargo area of the dock.
