A crew member of the "Federal Spey" suffered a severely injured finger and was rescued by the Bembridge lifeboat on Aug 31, 2016. The RNLI lifeboat was sent to rendezvous with the "Federal Spey" in the Channel at around 12.30 p.m. It took around an hour to reach the ship, which was en route from Muuga to Santos, and the injured crew member was transferred to the lifeboat using the ship’s gangway ladder and a baggage hoist. The lifeboat headed back to the Island, where an ambulance took him to St Mary’s Hospital.
