Ferry allided with quay in Pendik
The "Fatih Sultan Mehmet 1", coming from Yalova, allided with the wharf in Pendik during the berthing manoever on May 15, 2018, at 2.45 p.m. The ship suddenly increased speed and hit the quay due to a technical malfunction. It was then able to dock at the wharf. There were 168 passengers and eight crew members on board the vessel along with 58 cars. 11 passengers were slightly injured, mostly when the fell on the deck. A large number of rescue personnel was deployed to the scene. The first treatments were carried out in ambulances who transferred some of the injured to the hospital. The remaining passengers and cars were safely discharged from the vessel under the supervision of the ship crew and duty terminal team. The ferry ramp and the hull plating suffered structural damages. Damages were also noted on the ferry terminal quay.
