Cargo ship sailing again after grounding on Prerow Bank

The "Fast Herman",left the port of Rostock again on May 23 short past noon and headed to Goole, ETA May 25, 11 a.m. aufen. The arrest of the ship was lifted at 11 a.m. after surveys showed no hull damage. The water police Rostock was informaed accordingly. The investigations regarding the cause of the grounding on the Prerow Bank were still ongoing. It looked like the master had tried to shorten the way. On May 21, 2017, at 4.40 a.m. the "Fast Herman", having sailed from Szczecin on May 20 at 4 p.m. and was bound to Lübeck with a cargo of Urea, ran aground on the Prerow Bank between Darßer Ort and Zingst and was unable to get off with own power. The patrol boat "Warnow" from the nearby port of Rostock was deployed, and its crew started investigations on scene. A tug was called from Rostock and managed to pull the "Fast Herman" off at 1.50 p.m. It was ordered to enter the port of Rostock for surveys of the bottom and investigations. It reached the port with own power and docked at berth 37 at 6 p.m.
