Allision in Vũng Tàu

Thu Aug 01 10:31:27 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Fareast Honesty" allided with a quay at the SSIT Port in the sea port of Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu while berthing on July 31, 2019, at 1 pp.m. upon the arrival from Tanjung Merangas. The ship was loaded with coal for the Tree Marine Co. After it headed towards the port and was moving into the channel on the Go Gia River, the ship suddenly veered into the direction of the SSIT wharf amd slammed head on into the container port of Quoc Quoc, nearly missing the gantry cranes. Part of the quay collapsed, the bow of the bulkcarrier was crushed and breached at several places and badly damaged. While the local container vessel "Phuoc Lang 26" escaped by meters, another small container barge, the "SG 3452" was hit at the starboard side stern which was smashed. The barge was pushed off its berth but remained afloat despite severe damage. The bulkcarrier was guided to the buoy BP 9 on the Goa River by a pilot and with tug assistance where it was safely moored. The Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority was cooperating with the Ho Chi Minh City Maritime Port Authority and related agencies to investigate the cause of the accident.
