Tug disabled by tyre
The "Falckenstein" which is at present serving as a canal ferry on the Kiel Canal in Rendsburg was disabled by a tyre which fouled the propeller in the morning of May 16, 2016. The ship was stuck at the south shore in Osterrönfeld en route from the berth of the Water- and Shipping Authority in Rendsburg to the ferry berth at 7 a.m. when drift good got entangled in the propulsion. It managed to reach a berth at the heavy good terminal in Rendsburg where a diver was sent down to clear the propulsion from the obstruction in the foremidday. At 11.45 a.m. the ship was operating again.
Passenger carrying tug ran aground following engine failure in Kiel
On Oct 15, 2012, around 6 p.m. the "Falckenstein“ ran aground off the Reventlou Pier in Kiel. The ship which was serving the Förde-route and was carrying passengers got stuck with slow speed due to engine trouble which kept it from being stopped in time. The master passed the pier and ran aground in a short distance of the sea promenade. The tug "Holtenau“ was called and pulled the disabled ship off the shallow and moored it at the Reventlou Pier where the passengers were disembarked. The "Falckenstein" was then towed to the SFK owned pontoon at the central railway station for surveys.
