Ferry suffered techincal trouble

Wed May 01 21:00:21 CEST 2019 Timsen

On May 1, 2019, the "Færøy", serving the Halhjem-Sandvikvåg route, got problems with raising its ramp. The technical problems could be resolved in the evening, and the ship resumed its schedule at 8.10 p.m. On May 2 Torghatten Nord reported more technical problems with the ""Færøy" and new cancellations on the Halhjem-Sandvikvåg route at 7.15 a.m. The message was sent out eight minutes before departure. Passengers who were going to work were desperate and criticized the company for not informing about this earlier.

Water ingress in engine room

Mon Apr 15 12:39:07 CEST 2019 Timsen

Water leaked into the engine room of the brand new "Færøy" when a pipe burst while the ferry was docked at Halhjem in Os in the morning of April 13, 2019. Emergency services and the MRCC were notified. The Os fire and rescue was sent to assist with pumps. The crew managed to get the pumps started and began draining the water for water. At 7 a.m. the captain reported that the situation was under control. It was thought that a plug had been badly attached. The "Færøy" operates the service between Halhjem in Os and Sandvikvåg on Stord. The hybrid ferry, which runs on a mixture of gas and electricity from the battery, was commissioned in March. As there were no indications that there was something else wrong with the ferry after the leak was plugged and the three sister ferries were checked too, the "Færøy" went on route again just before dinner, but with delays, sailing from Sandvikvåg at 11.40 a.m. and Halhjem at 12.30 p.m. Norwegian report with photo: http://www.osogfusa.no/nyhende/splitter-ny-ferje-tok-inn-vatn-frykta-den-kom-til-a-krenga-1.2623224
