Fire brigade cared for passengers aboard disabled ferry
On Aug 3, 2014, the "Siebengebirge" was disabled due to an engine damage on the Rhine at Nonnenwerth. The ship had on board 55 passengers, among them 10 children, and was adrift. The fire brigade Remagen which had been alerted as the ferry was thought to have run aground, tracked the ship at 5.30 p.m. at Rolandseck and was informed that in fact the ship had engine failure. The passengers were supplied with beveries by boats and cared for by the Red Cross. On board the open deck ferry was an intense heat. One passenger was hyper ventilating and taken off for treatment in a Hospital in Bad Honnef. The multi purpose ship "RPL 7" of the fire brigade pushed the "Siebengebirge" to a berth in Bad Honnef at 7 p.m. After the passengers were taken off, it transported the Ferry to a yard in Rolandseck.
