Expedition ship leaking after grounding
After the "Expedition" ran aground in the evening of July 23, 2012, the ship anchored at Longyearbyen in the Advents Fjord in the afternoon of July 26. The ship had started taking in water after the grounding at Isispynten, east of Nordaustlandet, with 157 people on board. First it was thought that there was no damage to the ship, but later it turned out that water poured into the ship. The captain first had decided to head for Ny-Ålesund, but after the leaks were discovered, he decided that it was more convenient to check the ship with divers in Longyearbyen. There were 100 passengers and 57 crew on board. Norwegian report with photo: http://www.svalbardposten.no/nyheter/lekk-i-longyearbyen
