Crew member found dead on board

A 38 year old crew member of the 'Excellent' was found dead on the ferry during repairs in Genova on the morning of Feb 23, 2025. The ship has been docked for some time at the Giano jetty for maintenance. The 118 rescue and the port authority intervened on site. From initial investigations, the seafarer died during the night from medical causes.

Two medevacs by Salvamento Marítimo

On Dec 16, 2023, Salvamento Marítimo medevaced two sick people from the 'Excellent' and the cruise ship 'Queen Victoria'. The CCS Tarifa mobilized the Helimer 223 helicopter to the ferry, where a passenger was hoisted and transferred to the Jerez Airport. The CCS Almería mobilized the helicopter Helimer 207, which medevaced a passenger from the 'Queen Victoria' and took him to Almería.

Medevac in Balearic Sea

On Aug 7, 2022, the 'Excellent' requested the medevac of a sick passenger about 30 miles from the Spanish coast following the recommendation of a doctor on board. The MRCC of Salvamento Marìtimo in Palma center mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 221 which hoisted the patient, accompanied by a relative, and proceeded directly to the Son Espases hospital for further care.
