EXCELLENCE RHONE
On Sep 28, 2010, at 11.15 a.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Excellence" (EU No.: 7001833) on the Rhone underneath the nuclear power station Cruas setting the vessel adrift north of l'Homme d'Armes. The ship was being underway from Chalon-sur-Saône to Arles with 74 persons on board, among them 38 passengers, none of whom was hurt. The fire rescue proceeded with 80 men who were transfered to the ship with five RIBs. The police was also on scene with 20 men from Pierrelatte. After the fire was under control, the vessel was moored in Viviers, Ardèche, for repairs.
