Grounding in Mainz
On May 4, 2019, at 11.20 a.m. the "Excalibur II", 2832 td (EU-No.: 04804530), coming from Wesseling and being loaded with 2.000 tons gas oil, got stuck off the industrial port of Mainz on the Rhine. The port entrance was blocked by the casualty. A lighter tanker was ordered to take on board part of the cargo, but already before its arrival the "Excalibur II" managed to refloat with own power on May 5 due to a rising water level on the river. The ship entered the port and was investigated. As no defiencies were found, it was able to continue its voyage on May 6 at 3 p.m. towards Koblenz.
