Allision in Piraeus

On April 5, 2020, the ferry 'Stavros' allided with the 'European Star', which was laid up since Dec 2, 2019, in the Keratsini port at Piraeus while she was manoevering in port. Both ships were damaged, and officials of the 2nd Port Department of Keratsini banned the 'Stavros' from sailing. Both ships were moored at the new pier of Drapetsona in the port of Keratsini as of April 6. A preliminary investigation was being carried out by the relevant Port Authority. No injuries and no pollution reported.

Collision in Keratsini

The 'Stavros' and 'European Star' were in collision in the new Drapetsona port of Keratsini. The accident caused only material damage, no injuries and no pollution were reported. The 2nd Keratsini Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus launched an investigation.

Repairs of disabled ferry continued

A new set of spare parts were provided by the owners of the "Ibn Batouta" as per class surveyor's recommendations. The repair works were still being carried out in shipyard by shore based technical teams and the vessel remained stationary in a shipyard at Tuzla on Apr 23, 2018. The fery had been towed to Durres on Aug 28, 2015 for repairs. On Feb 2, 2017 repairs were halted, and it was unknown when they would be continued.
