Distressed migrants enforced their disembarkation
On June 6, the more than 400 migrants who were held captured on four tourist boats off Malta were allowed to disembark in Valletta, after migrants on board the 'Europa II' finally rioted and held the crew on the bridge and giving Malta authorities half an hour to meet their demands of an immediate disembarkation. They threatened to blow up gas cylinders and start a fire on board. By this the authorities were finally forced to allow the distressed migrants ashore in Valletta. The internation aboard the ship had been critzised international. Some of the migrants had been kept five weeks aboard the small ships after Malta on April 30 had started to keep the people on the charterted boats.
