Ice breaker slammed into ferry
In the foremidday of Aug 12, 2017, the German steam ice breaker "Stettin", which was just about to leave the port of Rostock in the course of the Hanse Sail parade with 180 passengers on board, slammed into the port side stern of the "Finnsky" off the overseas port between the berths 60 and 64. The hull of the ice breaker was breached on a length of two meters above the water line. 10 passengers were injured and medically treated, the others disembarked onto other ships joining the Hanse Sail Parade.. The "Finnsky" docked at berth 60, the "Stettin" returned to port for investigations. Finnsky caught by own anchor chain
The "Finnsky" got stranded off Warnemünde until Dec 9, 2013. The ship had anchored off the shore to ride out the strom after it left Lübeck on Dec 6, but it got caught in its own anchor chain and was unable to proceed. Divers were called on Dec 9 and cut off the anchor chain with welding equipment. Involved on scene were the tugs "Bugsier 15" and "Bugsier 16" and the multipurpose vessel "Baltic Taucher II" of the Baltic Diving company in Rostock. The ferry docked at berth 60 in Rostock at 10 p.m. and left the port on Dec 10 at 9.45 a.m. bound for Aarhus.
