Ferry disabled off Orosei Gulf

Wed Jan 10 13:20:40 CET 2018 Timsen

On Jan 9, 2018, the "Eurocargo Istanbul" sustained problems to the engine and anchored off Orosei Gulf. The tug "Falisca" arrived from Trapani to assist the ship that could not proceed with own engines. It was taken in tow to Cagliari. The ferry had been enroute from Leghorn to Cagliari with a cargo of trailers and 27 persons on board. She resumed its schedule, headed to Livorno where she called on Jan 15 at 8.20 a.m. before proceeding to Genova.

Allision off Livorno

Mon Feb 01 11:05:51 CET 2016 Timsen

The "Eurocargo Istanbul" allided with the anchored cargo vessel "BBC Bahrain" in the early morning of Jan 31, 2016, on the outer anchorage of Livorno. The ferry was en route to Livorno from Cagliari. After it had suffered engine trouble on Jan 30 at 11.30 p.m. about 11 miles off the port, it asked for tug assistance, and four tugs intervened. Due to bad weather with strong wind, the towline broke at 4.10 a.m., and the drifting ferry hit the cargo ship at 4.37 a.m. Little damage was reported, and the ferry was anchored on the outer roads because docking still was risky due to the bad weather. A patrol boat of the Coastguard was monitoring. The ferry finally berthed at the Terminal Alto Fondale in Livorno on Feb 1 at 11 a.m., followed by the cargo ship at 11.45 p.m. Italian reports with photos: http://www.quilivorno.it/collisione-fra-due-navi-in-rada/ http://iltirreno.gelocal.it/livorno/cronaca/2016/01/31/news/lieve-collisione-tra-2-navi-in-rada-livorno-1.12872167?refresh_ce http://www.lanazione.it/livorno/collisione-porto-1.1690293
