New SK 32 DGzRS Cruiser delivered, to be stationed at Sassnitz

SK 32 is the latest addition to the fleet of the German Sea Rescue Service (DGzRS). Just delivered by the Fassmer yard in Berne as their yard no. 4080, she measures 36,45m in length and has a displacement of 234t. SK 32 passed the Kiel Canal towards the Baltic on April 29th 2012, and will be stationed at Sassnitz on the island off Ruegen, just south of the major Baltic shipping lanes. SK 32 is the provisional name as the final naming will not be public before her official naming ceremony later in May. She will replace WILHELM KAISEN built in 1978.
