Cocaine seized during anti-drug-trafficking operation
The "Mount Faber" was intercepted on March 27, 2017, in the Gibraltar Strait en route from Columbia to Iskenderun by the Royal Gibraltar Police. The vessel was boarded by 34 officers from the the police and customs. It was the final stage of an International multi-agency drug trafficking operation, which has led to the seizure of 108 kilos of cocaine with a street value of £6.5 million. The cocaine was packed in a tube, attached to bulker’s underwater hull. The ship was was moored at Europa Point off Gibraltar, and resumed the voyage on March 29 after it turned out that the crew had not been involved in the drug trafficking.
