Engine repairs in Drapetsona underway

Aboard the 'Erato', which had suffered an engine failure south of Kriti Island on April 24, 2023, and was towed by the tug 'Chrsitos XXXIII' (IMO: 9131292) to a repair pier in Piraeus on April 29, a new set of spare parts from authorized manufacturer was provided by the owners. The maintenance of the main shaft, propeller, rudder and pertinent systems were in progress. Upon completion of repairs, sea trials will be carried out under supervision of a class surveyor at the anchorage area. The ship remained stationary at the repair pier at Drapetzona as of June 19.

Erato in collision with Erato

The tank m/v "Erato" collided with the anchored container ship "Erato" at Piraeus anchorage in the afternoon of Sep 29, 2018, while mooring alongside for bunkering. Both ships sustained slight damages, but there were no breaches and leaks reported. In the evening the cargo ship was still anchored in pos. 37° 53.32' N 023° 33.21' E. None of the 18 crew members of the tanker and 32 of the container ship were injured. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus, which carried out the preliminary investigation, detained the two ships until the certification of seaworthiness by the attending classification societies.

Tanker strucks MSC’s container ship in Piraeus

Product tanker ERATO reportedly struck berthed container ship MSC BRIANNA in the afternoon Aug 23 at Keratsini Harbor, Piraeus, while maneuvering in the harbor. Both vessels sustained damages, ERATO said to suffer starboard bow damages, MSC BRIANNA was damaged in portside aft area, extent of damages unknown. MSC BRIANNA shifted berth early Aug 24, as of 1230 UTC Aug 24 she and her adversary ERATO were still at Keratsini, detained for inspection.
