Platinum East broke down off Xiamen Coast, 14 crewmembers rescued
According to Xinhua News Agency, East China Sea Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport rescued 14 Bangladeshi nationality crews from Tuvalu cargo ship "PLATINUM EAST" which broke down off Xiamen coast on 16th October. The cargo ship, 103 meters in length, 26 meters in width, broke down in the waters about 70 nautical miles south of Xiamen Port due to host failure. After receiving the distress message sent from the cargo ship at 23:14 on 15th, East China Sea Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport immediately dispatched "East China Sea rescue 159" wheel to the rescue. After seven hours’ voyage, "East China Sea rescue 159" wheel arrived at the scene and rescued all the 14 crews on board. The crippled boat will be towed to a port in Zhejiang for repairs.
