Luxury yacht ablaze in Oslo Fjord
The "Eos" caught fire in the afternoon of June 30, 2012, in the Oslo Fjord close by Sjursøya. Fire and rescue services were on site with 15 firefighters and also the other emergency services after they were notified at 3.15 p.m. The ship was located between Malmøya and Sjursøya. It was difficult for fire department to extinguish the fire due to the bad accessibility, and it was decided to tow the ship cloaser to the land to facilitate fire fighting efforts.First. At 8.15. p.m. the fire department said the fire was under control and almost completely extinguished. The ship, however, suffered considerable material damage in its upper part, but less below deck.The crew on board were taking over after the fire rescue finished their work. The ship was thought to be still fully navigable. The 18 people on board were evacuated when the fire broke out. No one was injured. It was too early to say anything about the cause of the fire.
